The series was an eventful affair as a lot of discussion went on among the experts, social media and players. The pitches were more conducive for the spinners at Mohali and Nagpur, eading to some questioning the quality of the tracks. There were mixed opinions about the same but surely this was a wake up call for the South Africans as they failed miserably Hardly any South African batsman managed to play out spin twins Ashwin and Jadeja in the four tests. Ashwin was the Man of the Series for his 31 wickets in the series while Jadeja supported him well.
Ajinkya Rahane and Murali Vijay were the two stand out performers for India in the series. Rahane became the only fifth Indian to score twin hundreds in a Test match and in this series which saw extreme lack of application from the batsmen, he was the lone centurion from both the sides. Vijay continued his good form and scored couple of fities in the series. Dhawan was the biggest failure in this outing and serious quesions were raised over his place in the team. Virat Kohli led the team well and displayed his agressive intent as always, as the Indian team broke the South African streak of winning tests around the world.
